Karang Mesari Ubud Guest House

Welcome to Karang mesari Ubud Bungalows

Ubud
If you are looking for a place to stay on Bali, look no further. In the centre of Bali is Ubud, the heart of culture and traditions, the hotspot with great restaurants, from high end to budget Warungs (local restaurants), with spa's providing relaxing massages and shops selling traditional artefarcts made in Bali.

Guesthouse

To experience the hospitality of a Balinese family and to have a most comfortable stay during your time on Bali, you are most welcome in Karang mesari Ubud Bungalows. Quiet, relaxed and having all the comforts you need, this guesthouse is perfect if you visit Ubud for only a few days, but also if you treat yourself to a longer stay of weeks or months.

Located slightly up north of the centre Karang mesari Ubud Bungalows is quiet and beautiful. It is close enough to reach anything you need quickly, but it is not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Ubud.

Our guesthouse is fairly cheap, compared to many of the luxuous spa-resorts you'll find around Ubud, and very luxuous compared to the scarce budget options you'll find here. The character of this guesthouse is natural, comfortable, personal, authentic, sympathetic, easygoing, fancy and relaxing.

Ubud

Each night there are local dance and music shows, staged in ancient temples, and music of the tradtional ceremonies is sounding all over Ubud.

In Ubud itself is a lot to do: from cooking classes to yoga or meditation courses. From enjoying massages, to learning how to give them. From watching a traditional fire and trance (kecak) performance, to visiting the Forest with its thousand monkeys. From trainings in the traditional artforms, to going out to dance in trendy bars.

(You might have got the picture reading the book Eat Pray love)

But if you rent a car or motorbike you can also explore the surroundings of Ubud: through the ricepaddies you can reach volcano's and hotsprings, and the beach on each side of the island.

The owners: Made's family

As you might notice in Indonesia, very many men are called Made. It's meaning " 2nd born". Only for better friends people reveil their real name.
The owners of Karang mesari Ubud Bungalows are the Ruta family. I (meaning "Sir") Made Kuwik Ruta is the head of the family. His parents also live in the house. His mother takes care of the ceremonial rituals at the temple and each single room every day.

Made works a part of the day in a Tourist information shop, but he is certainly not your average hassler, that you might expect working in tourist shops. He can provide you with information on busses and tours, for free, and is happy to help you out with anything.
Made can take you to his land on the ricefields and help you to some fresh coconuts or take you to the local fishmarket early in the morning, to buy fish for your own barbecue. If you want to rent yourself a bike or motorbike, Made knows where and how.

Made's wife, Yanik, works in a dogcentre during the day, but with her experience in quality hotel kitchens, she cooks your breakfast each morning.

Suastika Guesthouse consists of 4 large rooms located around a beautiful garden, with loads of flourishing flowers, large bamboo bushes, on the edge of the valley of the river. The garden is being carefully maintained by your host family. The typical flowers that you see in the hair of beautiful Balinese girls or tourists fall on your verandah everyday.

In the garden are two small ponds, with dripping water, a comforting, peaceful sound going together with the sounds of birds, roosters, and other animals around. You are in the middle of nature.

Your verandah has comfortable furniture to spend many hours on. For your breakfast or evenings drinking local arak wine.

Tropical birds and colourful butterflies are all around, as if you are in a botanical garden.

The view from the rooms upstairs is magnificent.

The rooms have handcarved or bamboo kingsized beds and are lovely decorated with Balinese paintings.

Lounge near the window.

In the master-room there is an open air shower. Lovely to have your hot shower in the bright sunlight or under the clear sky filled with stars.

The bathtub here is made of natural stone and heartshaped. Even big enough and comfortable for two people.

For you to have a better idea about the atmosphere in this bathroom, this photo is taken from within the bathtub.
